Program Itinerary
Day 01: Fly to Paro and clearing customs, and visa control you will met our guide from Bhutan and drive to Paro town for lunch. After lunch visit National Museum, Rinpung Dzong, built in 17th century to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders. The dzong is now used as an administration centre and school for monks. Evening dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Paro to Thimphu by overland after breakfast drive the winding road to the Drukgyal Dzong, the ruined fort, Mount Chomolhari, can be seen the on a clear day from Drukgyal village. We then drive to Shari to hike up (or horse ride) to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s nest). where Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigeress in the 8th century. After lunch at the cafeteria walk back to the road point. On our way back to the hotel we visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temple in Bhutan built in 7th century. Late afternoon depart to Thimphu, the modern capital of Bhutan. Enroute visit Simtokha Dzong etc and over night at hotel.

Day 03: Thimphu valley sightseeing includes a visit to the visit National Memorial Chorten, built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk and also visit the Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Museum, Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Thimphu. After lunch visit later in the afternoon depart to Punakha, an ancient capital of Bhutan.

Day 04: After breakfast visit Punakha Dzong, winter seat of the Je Khenpo and the Monk Body, spur of a hill at the confluence of the Tsang Chu and Dang Chu rivers etc. Then drive to Paro over the Dochola pass to Paro. and overnight at hotel.

Day 05: After breakfast retrace your road back to Paro via Thimphu for lunch. After lunch visit the Thimphu, Weekly Outdoor Market, where everyone goes to buy fruits and vegetables, rice, grains, chillis and other fresh foods. The crowded stalls offer many colourful local items such as yak tail dusters, butter tea cups, turquoise from Nepal and Tibet and musical instruments and late afternoon depart to Paro. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06: In the morning drive towards the north of Paro valley to visit the ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong 16 km up the valley. Unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m) and then drive beyond Satsam Chorten to hike up to the Taktsang monastery etc. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower, which now houses the National Museum. Below the museum is the Paro Rimpung Dzong, the centre of civil and religious authority in this valley. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Morning drive to Phuentsholing takes approximately 6 hours (177 kms) and runs through the dense forests and enters a zone of subtropical forests. We continue our drive and in fine weather you will have the magnificent views of the plains of India spreading out endlessly towards the horizon. It is strikingly obvious how Himalayan form a mighty barrier rising like a wall from the plain. Over night in at Indian Border (Jaigong) and your Bhutanese escort and drop to Paro airport for departure.
